In the mid 90's an
idea developed into what is known today as PC Pros. It has had a
few names but kept the same idea in mind. As the industry
changed, we tried to keep up with the new technology but, we
always kept the same business plan. That is always make the
customer happy.
First we were
“Richardson Technology.” At that time the hobby was in full
swing in our area but there were no places local that you could
buy parts. If you wanted to build your own pc, you had to wait.
Couldn’t pick up a new CD Rom drive, RAM, sound card, etc... ,
you had to order it and wait. If your pc was to crash and needed
a new main board you were days out to be back up and running. We
found this out because of the internet company (ISP) that we had
started. We had grown the internet company so fast that we were
in constant need of some upgrade or another. So “Richardson
Technology” was born. We took the same idea for customer support
that made the ISP a success and put it in retail. Customer
service. We made the business model of selling for the retail
store sell 5 for the same profit as any competitor was making on
selling 1. The hobby was growing and the need in our area for a
parts store was great so we met that need and it grew. We sold
everything below suggested retail, we build to boot system, we
had a spot in our tech area for the customer to come in and ask
questions if he ran into trouble building his own system. We
would build it with them right there with them. I don’t know how
many times I did that, with no charge. It was fun, little time
spent, and the customer was happy. We gave away more money in
support than we ever charged for. We never turned away customers
for any reason. If you purchased parts to build a system
yourself and were in over your head we helped. We fielded tech
calls from people that purchased system from our competitors. We
asked “why call us?” always with the same reply, “ everyone says
call PC Pro they know what they are doing and will always help”
We always did. We became the place to go for all your computer
problems because we are a small local business that likes the
hobby and was right in the middle of anything new. This is our
playground, it’s what we liked. We were the lowest priced and
the best service with the quickest turnaround in our area.
Service is the main business in computers today and we are the
best.
We were over run
with customers because we took care of the customer. First name
basics with too many to name. 1 question was asked so much that
we changed the name, “Who or what is Richardson Technology.” So
we went to RT computers. This was about the time UVA came to us
and we started building systems for them. 30 sometimes 60
systems at a time. That relationship grew for years and forced
us to up size. We ended up after all the changes with PC Pro as
our name. The same idea is still in place. A face that you know
and the best customer support that is possible. We will always
listen and give the customer what they need to be happy and
satisfied. We never let a customer, old or new, a face that we
know, a business that relies on us for support, or even someone
that we just met, leaving our store without being satisfied at
all cost.
